So I’m not saying these are the best horror movies ever…but they are my favorite. We got a solid week left of Halloween month enjoy some of these classics. See what y’all think of my list!

10.  Bride of Chucky

Bride of Chucky… it’s not award-worthy, but Jenifer Tilly is a treasure.  It’s stupid and cheesy but I love it!

9.  Carrie

Old school horror movies just did it different.  Carrie was and is a classic!  The prom scene 😱 !

8.  A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy… this one terrified me as a kid, but it is horror movie royalty.  I probably have seen most of the Elm St movies, but it’s hard to say for sure cause there are like 74 of em’.  That damn glove gave scared the shit out of me till I was 30… it still might.  Good stuff!

7.  Shaun of the Dead

Zombies with humor, this movie is fantastic.  Not scary, per se’ , but these guys make solid flicks.  The fact that they end up at their favorite pub, (which is British for bar) cracks me up.  I mean if there is a zombie apocalypse, what better place to ride it out then your favorite bar?

6.  The Exorcist

If the scene with the girls head spinning didn’t stick in your head… what is wrong with you.  This one is scary, well made, creepy, and a classic.  The priest to me is almost as creepy as the possessed girl…

5.  Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is literally on in my house every day this month.  I never watched this as a kid, but my young kids love it. I had to put 1 in here that they can actually watch with dad. So here is Hocus Pocus.  And the gal from those Sex with the City movies is in this when she was all young and sneaky cute.  So…

4.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

This one has been Re-made, and imitated, but nothing can touch the original!  I mean Leatherface!  This to me is the creepy, gory, suspenseful stuff horror movies are made of!  It also always creeped us out cause it was set here in central TX and as a teenager, you can’t help but wonder if there was any real story behind this f’d up stuff.  I mean we used to have pasture parties out in the country, we were easy targets for anybody that wanted to get us with a chainsaw…

3.  Psycho

I actually watched this one again 2 nights ago. Suspense, creepy… this is the original real deal horror flick.  So well made and really and truly stands the rest of time.  Yes I have seen the remake, with Vince Vaughn, and I love VV, but the original Psycho is such a cool movie!  I still to this day look over my shoulder if I’m using a shower with a curtain.  If you’ve never seen it, give it a watch!

2.  Halloween

Mike Myers, Jamie Lee Curtis! This one is by far my favorite slasher flick.  Yes the ridiculous slow-walking Michael Myers somehow catching up to running teenagers will always be an issue, but I love the Halloween movies!  The theme song still creeps me out, but again another one that has been remade many times, but I gotta go with the original yet again.

1. Scream

I don’t know how other people feel about this movie, but I absolutely love it.  From the suspense, the humor, just the right amount of gore, and of course Drew Barrymore, this movie is not only one of my favorite horror flicks, but I love this movie as an all-time favorite.  I mean is there anyone that hasn’t imitated that voice “Hello, Sydney”  Such good stuff right here, and I actually like all of the sequels, they aren’t as good as the first one, but I love Scream and the whole franchise!

So there you have it, my favorite horror movies, just in time for Halloween.  So If you aren’t out in the woods this weekend, or hittin the water to reel in the big one, grab a cocktail and cute gal, or guy if that’s your thing, and hit the couch and get into the Halloween holiday spirit!
